Any time is a good time! Pelvic floor dysfunction can occur in any age group and any gender. But having a thorough assessment by a pelvic floor therapist can be hugely valuable especially during prenatal and postpartum timeframes.
Here is a list of symptoms that tell you it's time to see a pelvic floor therapist:
- Leaking urine or feces. Urinary and fecal incontinence is never normal, despite what society tells us

- Scar tissue pain or sensitivity from c-section and perineal scars
- Feeling heaviness or pressure in your vaginal area
- Seeing or feeling a bulge coming from your vagina
- Diastasis recti —abdominal separation, doming or coning in your abdomen
- Urinary frequency and urgency
- Difficulty or pain with urination or defecation
- Feeling unsure about how to start or when is a good time to start exercise or running after having a baby
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, know that you are not alone and there is help for you! Please seek out a pelvic floor therapist to help guide you in the right direction.
